Witness modern-day masters of Madonnari, traditional Italian street painting dating back to the 16th century in which painters transform village street squares into colorful temporary galleries! Watch drab pavement evolve into a series of fabulous works of art alongside the Prairie Path from Main to Park!
Madonnari Off Main – An Italian Street Painting Festival, sponsored by Bells & Whistles Snackery, The Glen Ellyn Library, Team Works Media, R J Aubrey Investment Corp., Monkey Wrench Studio, Inc., and WelcomeToGlenEllyn.com in partnership with the Glen Ellyn Park District and partners - the Glen Ellyn Parks Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, and the National Eagle Center comes to life August 22-23, 2009.
Free transportation from Lake Ellyn and around town, will allow visitors to get the most of Downtown Glen Ellyn and its many wonderful shops, restaurants and historic landmarks! Lake Ellyn will also play host to the Glen Ellyn Festival of the Arts, sponsored by the Lion's Club. Artists of all levels and ages are invited to create masterpieces in chalk right on the pavement in Downtown Glen Ellyn.
Get up close and personal with a REAL LIVE EAGLE from the National Eagle Center! "Harriet" is our special Eagle Ambassador this year for Madonnari Off Main. Be sure to stop by and visit the National Eagle Center tent while you're here. Take your picture with an eagle and learn more about this magestic symbol of our Nation!The National Eagle Center tent is located near the front entrance of the VIP tent.
Madonnari Off Main is very proud to also partner with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana for the next 5 years! The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana is to improve the health, well-being and education of children. Madonnari Off Main is dedicated to raising at least $50,000 by 2012 for the "Opening New Doors" campaign to sponsor a room in the new Ronald McDonald House®.
